EFY Revisited

Most of you know, last summer I went to EFY at USU. It was a blast. I met a ton of cool people. I actually still keep in touch with a bunch of them. Mainly, Matt, Rob, and Scott. Matt and Rob are twins. They live in Provo. Scott lives in Harrisville, which is just North? of Ogden. Scott and I have been talking a lot lately, and decided it would be a lot of fun to hang out. Matt, Rob, and Scott would meet here, because my house is pretty much the middle, and then we would go see the lights at Temple Square because they hadn't seen them yet. Scott and I decided it would be fun if we made it a date, I could bring some friends for Matt and Rob, and I would go with Scott. So we had it all planned, we just had to talk to Matt and Rob. Unfortunately, it was their sisters birthday yesterday, and so they couldn't come. So we switched gears, Scott would bring some friends, I would bring some friends. It would be fun. :D

So the guys showed up at about 5:15 last night. Scott brought his friends Alex and Justin. Tania and Jessica came shortly afterwards. After saying goodbye to the 'rents, Scott drove us to the Gateway. We chilled at the Gateway for a bit, going to the planetarium and walking around, just talking and looking at stuff. Then we went to Temple Square, to look at the lights. We eventually made our way back to the Gateway, and had dinner at Applebees. We finished dinner around 9, and decided to make our way back to my house. Once we got home, we talked a lot about EFY (ok, so me, Scott, and Jessica talked a lot :D No one else had been to EFY.) and a bunch of other stuff. Then we pulled out Apples to Apples. Now that was fun. :D I won the first round easily, to everyones chagrin. ;) The second round was tied for a long time between Tania and Jessica, before Justin and I caught up, with Jessica finally winning.

Around 11, my mom decided it was late enough, and everyone needed to go home. The guys had to drive for 45 minutes to get home, so it was probably good they left at that point, anyway. I said goodbye to Tania and Jessica first, then walked with Scott and Justin to their car, thanking them for driving so far, for paying for dinner, and for making the night so much fun. I really had a blast. I'm so glad they came.

Scott and I are planning to sign up for the same session of EFY this year, at USU of course. :D Scott said he'd bring Justin, too. :D How cool would it be if we were in the same company?! :D That would totally rock. So, in summary, last night was awesome. I was really nervous at first, but eventually I settled down and had a great time!

In other news, region dance tonight!! I'm super psyched! I haven't been to on since September, and I'm definitely going through withdrawals. :D So expect a post on that sometime in the near future. :D

Anyway, not much else to blog about. I've been spending a ton of time with Alan and Jaron lately, but usually we only amuse ourselves. Everyone else thinks we're weird. :D And we know we are. But at least we make ourselves laugh, right? Right.
peace out, yo. ;)

Christmas Madness

Good morning. It's 9 am, and I woke up about 10 minutes ago.

Everybody else is doing a Christmas review, so here's mine:

Everything went as it usually does, including all the Christmas drama. Do your families have Christmas drama? Mine does. Every year. And it's usually about the same thing. But we won't talk about that, cuz it's lame.

Annnyway, Christmas was a ton of fun. It seemed strange, because it didn't really feel like the Christmas season this year, even though I was way psyched. Christmas Eve, we (meaning my little sisters and I) made a deal with our parents. We promised not to wake them up until 7, if they promised not to go back to bed around 8. Usually, we wake them up at 5:30 or some other insane time, and they end up going back to bed. We don't like this. So we waited, and let me tell you, it was rough. ;) I actually woke up at 4. I went back to sleep until 6. Then I went back to sleep until my youngest sister woke me up at 7. Now, our bedrooms are on the top floor, the presents are on the main floor, and my parents room is in the basement. They make us wait upstairs until they come and tell us that we can run down the stairs and into the living room where our presents from Santa await us. Does Santa wrap at your house? Well, he doesn't here. So we've been getting creative lately about waking up our parents. When we were little, we would just yell. That's hard! Then we figured out, our vents are all connected. So we'd yell into the vents. :D This year, I called our house on my cell phone. Much easier. Much quicker. :D Go, Courtney. :D It so worked. Yes!

So then we did the usual present thing, check out the haul from Santa, then open family presents.
This is what I got:
  • a red nano ipod: 8 gb, with my name engraved on the back. :D
  • a book bag for my laptop
  • the Over the Hedge DVD
  • an Indianapolis Colts t-shirt
  • part of the Tennis Shoes Among the Nephites series
  • cookies, candy, the general Christmas treats
  • a kermit notebook
  • muppets pins
  • cool new pajamas
  • ugly new pajamas-trust me, you don't want to know. my grandma... ewww.

So yeah, that's what I got. I got a bunch of other stuff too, like gift cards to itunes and stuff. It was a pretty sweet Christmas, I must say.

Haha. Last night, Jaron, Alan, and I decided we were going to watch Dances With Wolves, for extra credit in Rockwell. We fast forwarded through a bunch of it, and didn't watch the rest. Booooooring. :D

Friday, some friends from EFY are coming to hang out. I'm super excited. I haven't seen these guys since...well, EFY.

Well, that's my rant for now. My mom says that if I want to hang out with my friends on Friday, I have to have a clean room and have finished all my homework. So I better get started. Thanks for pretending to care about what I did for Christmas. ;) See ya.

Merry Christmas Eve

Wow, can you believe it's Christmas Eve?!?!? That's insane!

I can't believe that December has gone by so quickly!

So I had a date last night. That was good fun. I went with Sam, Jessica B. went with Austin S. and then Sam's brother brought a date too. We went out to dinner, then downtown to look at lights, and then we watched Failure to Launch at Sam's house. I love that movie. Anyway, I had a really great time. Thanks, Sam!

I got home a bit after curfew. Only about 20 minutes, and it's the first time that it's ever happened. My parents were still mad. I had even called them and told them we were going to be late. *rolls eyes* So that was sorta a night spoiler. It's rediculous that they got mad.

Tonight Santa is coming! Have you been good boys and girls? Or is coal in your near future? ;)

Ooh, some friends from EFY are coming to visit me on Friday. :D I'm so excited! Scott, Matt, and Rob are so cool! We're going downtown (yes, again) lol. They haven't seen the lights yet, and the lights will be up until New Years, so I figured, hey. Why not? lol.

Well, I'm gonna go change out of my church clothes and find some lunch.
Merry Christmas Eve, everyone!

Oh, Happy Day

Wow, today has been great!
I was supposed to take my Christmas presents to school to pass out tomorrow, but they were calling to me... "Take us now, Courtney, take us now!" So this morning I packed up 3, yes 3! bags full of presents and took them to school. :D I love giving gifts. I only missed 2 people, and I can take those tomorrow. Seriously, it was so good. :D

First period was Spanish. All we did was a worksheet, and I finished that in about 5 minutes. Then we watched a movie. Second period was Adult Roles. We watched You've Got Mail. That's a good movie. It's a nice chick flick. Then we had lunch. This is when I handed out the majority of my presents. And...speaking of lunch, I forgot to eat... Hmm... I was so excited to give out presents, I forgot! Haha. This is not the first time that I've been so excited that I have missed a meal... just goes to show ya, without my parents, I'd starve to death! Oh man. Jared was wearing a Santa hat today. He had mistletoe conveniently stuck into the brim of his hat. When he told me that no one had kissed him, I made it my mission to fix that. ;) So Kortney, Marissa, Melissa and I went up to Jared and kissed him on the cheek. :D It was awesome. I laughed, he laughed, we all laughed. He actually texted me to thank me. ;) It was good fun.

Third period was history. We took a bunch of notes, watched a movie, and he handed out a bunch of homework. Merry Christmas to you, too, Rockwell! Fourth was Photography. We watched POTC2. That was fun! I love Pirates!

So, overall, today was just amazing. :D I had an awesome day. :D Hopefully, tomorrow will be just as good.

Well, I'm gonna go get some food. I'm pretty hungry!
Merry Christmas!

It's a Party!

Wow, what a weekend! Lol. 2 parties! It was insane.

Friday was Alan's birthday. He turned 17. Wow, he's old. :D Lol. Annnnyway, his party was Friday night. He told everyone to bring an ugly sweater. I know, an unusual request. But seriously, it's Alan. So, to humor him, Jo, Kim, Jaron, and I went to the DI to find some ugly sweaters. And boy, were some of them uuuugly. :D That was a great time. I can honestly say that I spent half of the time literally rolling on the ground because I was laughing so hard.
Alan's party was great fun. Jaron and I got him Pirates of the Caribbean Legos. I'm glad we had him open our presents first, because we were seriously out shined. Katie and Karen got him a directors chair. Yeah... our presents were lame. But I think he liked them...I think. Anyway, we ended up watching Happy Feet. That's a great movie. :D I seriously want a dancing penguin. That's now been promoted to life dream #1.

Saturday night was Katie's Christmas party. That was also great fun. :D Almost everyone was there. :D It was great. Good food, good friends, good video games...and a good snowball fight. Actually, there were 2. :D The first one was pretty equal. Nobody won, nobody lost. But then it was pretty much just me, Jaron, and Nick. The second one...well, let's just say whoever won, it wasn't me and Jaron. We were annihilated. :D
Did I mention I was wearing flip flops, no jacket, and no gloves throughout the whole thing? It was pretty dang cold by the time I got inside. :D Cold enough that my whole body hurt.
After the snowball fights, we went back inside to painfully warm up. I ended up getting cards thrown at me, and my head was nearly taken off twice! It was insane. :D

I use the words insane, great, good, and fun quite often, don't I?

Tonight is the Christmas band and choir concert. I should be there right now, but I'm babysitting. For all those whose amazing performances I missed, I truly am sorry. I'm sure you were amazing, and I feel really bad for missing it.

I went Christmas shopping today. :D I love Christmas. I'm almost done, I just have a few more gifts to get: 3 to be exact.

I spent $20 at the dollar store. Don't ask.

Oh yeah, I went to my aunts college graduation on Saturday. She got her masters in english from USU. Graduations are everything I thought they would be: Boring.

I was also able to bring home my new guitar on Saturday. It's gorgeous. :D It has an amazing sound, and it's beautiful. I really do love it. :D My sisters told me it was ugly. :( Shows what they know.

Well, that's life. It's great. Amazing. :D I really do love everything right now. And guess what! The Colts are even winning right now. 10-3. Take that, Bengals. Let's just hope this continues!

Well, I'm off to wrap presents and do homework. Quite the combination, I know. :D
Merry Christmas!

Spaz-Bot :D

Ok, so that has got to be the coolest thing someone has every called me. :D Thank you, Nick!

There really isn't much to blog about today, I don't really have any deep thoughts or special events to tell about.

Sparknotes is pretty much the coolest thing ever. Even ask anyone. lol. I have Sparknotes stuff for english and for history, and it pretty much rocks. It is definitely helping me.

School is movin' along. Midterms weren't as bad as I thought they were going to be.

My room is a mess. Yes, I just cleaned it on Saturday. Yes, it's messy again. Yes, there's still glitter everywhere...

13 days until Christmas. I hope it snows more soon.

I'm super excited. I love Christmas. I mean, presents are awesome. I love giving stuff. :D But seriously, all the symbolism of Christmas...it's just...wow. That's the only way I can think of to describe it. Can you believe that Christ was born in a manger? The King of Kings lay in the straw with the animals. Such a humble beginning to such a great life. He was born, a tiny baby, and went on to become the greatest Man who ever lived. He suffered all for us. He was perfect. He conquered death. Isn't that amazing? He suffered for you, He suffered for me. I am so grateful that I have a knowledge of this truth. I am so grateful that I can go through everyday with that extra spring in my step, all because of what I know. Isn't that wonderful? I think it is.

I hope your *Christmas* Season goes well. I hope you all smile. :D Smiling is the best. Just one smile can make a persons day. So pass it on. :D
*corky*
**Notice I said Christmas Season instead of Holiday Season. Christmas is what I celebrate. If someone celebrates a different holiday, I hope you have fun as well. But I celebrate Christmas. So I say, Merry Christmas.**

Snowball Fights, Dates, and College Plans, Oh My!

Wow, it's been awhile since I've posted. But I'm back, and I've got some stuff to say. :)
This week has been crazy. School is insane. My house is a mess. I'm way behind in some school stuff, I can't find my $125 calculator, and I've bombed some tests. And. My human biology teacher...well, we won't go there. We've been redoing my bathroom. It's been almost 2 weeks, and it's still not done. It's driving me crazy.

Some pretty awesome stuff happened this week. Would it be bragging to say most of it was my idea? If you said yes, prepare to read some bragging. ;)
I love snow. Snow is so much fun. :D I love snowball fights. So on Wednesday, I decided that I wanted to have a snowball fight. After enlisting a few people, Austin, Nathan, and Jaron, a mad snowball fight ensued. The problem is, I have crappy aim. So I was getting killed. I very rarely hit anyone. Although I had a few good shots (Nathan took one in the face. ;)), the guys were kicking my butt. I can't count the times I got hit in the head. Mostly, those hits were from Austin. Makes sense, doesn't it? Since when he puts his arm straight out, it hits me in the head. ;) Ok, so it hits over my head. :D lol. So anyway, back to me getting my butt kicked in a snowball fight. At one point, I looked over at Jaron and he was laying in the snow. And I thought "I could take this opportunity at a cheap shot and hit him hard. Or..." I'm sure there was an evil glint in my eye as I grabbed a huge handful of snow and whitewashed him. :D It was awesome. :D A few minutes later, the bell rang, so we started making our way over to the school building, I felt someone grab the back of my shirt. I turned around, grabbed Jaron, and shoved snow down his back before he could shove snow down mine. :D Excellent. Austin and Nathan both saw, and started running over. I took off. Pretty soon, I looked over and saw an unexpecting Austin just standing there. I scooped up some snow, and pretty soon Austin had a big handful of snow down the back of his shirt, too. After deciding to make my victory complete by getting Nathan, too, I whispered to Jaron to distract Nathan. He did this very well, and I was able to put a third and final handful of snow down Nathan's back. This is when I decided it would be a very good idea to take off, and after shouting goodbye's at all of them, I quickly went to class. When I walked into guitar, soaking wet and breathing hard, Doc gave me a strange look. So I smiled and explained to him that I had just had a snowball fight. And won. :D That's right, ladies and gentlemen, I won. I was losing horribly, but I came back for the kill. Go me. :D Doc laughed, and I spend a period in considerable pain. Cold fingers and guitars do not go well together.

My second great idea for the week also took place on Wednesday. Since I'm pretty much the only laurel to ever show up, I get to plan all of our activities. I really wanted to go look at the lights around Temple Square. But everyone does that. So I though "How can I make this different, and still have a great time?" Lightbulb! We could all bring dates! Of course, it would be just a laurel activity, the younger girls were planning their own activities. My young women's president thought it was a great idea, and so did the Bishop. I asked Nathan, and after checking with the young women's president on last time, I also invited Kortney and Melissa. They asked Eric and Levi. We had an awesome time! I won't get into all the details, because Nathan has already posted about it. It was a perfect night to look at Christmas lights. It was cold, but not too cold. Of course, the Temple grounds were full of mutual groups, but we were the only ones with dates. It was hilarious to pick out all the beehives and deacons. They were quite conspicuous. Not to mention, loud. :D Anyway, a great time was had by all. My Bishop liked my friends, my young womens president thought they were (in her words exactly) "interesting," and I made it home about 5 seconds before curfew. ;) It was awesome.

And now to the third part of this post: College Plans. I know a bunch of you are rolling your eyes right now. But college is a huge deal to me. I'm so psyched (even though I will miss my high school friends). Everyone who has ever talked to me would know that I'm a huge Aggie Fan. I have been planning on attending USU since I was about 2. No joke. That's what I've always wanted to do. I have also been planning on being a RN since I was about 10. This was my plan: Finish High School. Go to USU. Become a Nurse. Well, yesterday my plan was blown out of the water. USU does not have a nursing program. When I found this out, I seriously was this close to crying. Yesterday wasn't the greatest day anyway, and this was just the icing on the cake. That was my plan! That was what I wanted (and still want) to do! How could a plan that I've been working on forever disappear so quickly?! It's not fair. After talking to some friends from church, I was able to find out that Weber has a great nursing program. But Weber is not and never will be USU. Utah State is my dream school. I know there are a lot of options for college, and I know I still have some time to think about it, but it's seriously unnerving not having a plan that's set in stone. Although, I guess I've learned that it doesn't matter what your plan is set in: Dynamite can take anything out. So that's the trauma of the week. I don't know what to do.

Annnyway, I've been cleaning my room for a day and a half, and it's still not done. I really am sick of cleaning.

I could seriously go back to sleep right now. But I'm always ready to go back to sleep.

"We're rockin' the suburbs."

I think I want to watch POTC 2 today. That sounds fun.

But enough of my randomness. Have a nice day. ;)

Wow.

Hey Guys, I'm just about to get off to bed, so I thought I'd stop in and say hi. ;)

The past two days have been awesome.

I just finished homework for history. Well, maybe finished is an optimistic term. I'm hoping Jaron will help me finish the last question in the morning.
School is awesome, busy, and stressful.

I seriously don't have much to write, other than to say life is great!

Oh, The Fray is coming in concert! I might go. I'm super psyched. January 31. Tickets are $23. I think it would be so cool!

I got really hyper before math today. I blame the sip of Dr. Pepper Kenzi gave me. :D Of course, I had it in 1st period, and math is 3rd period. It was seriously funny. :D Even though I'm pretty sure I failed the test, I had fun in math. :D lol.

Anyway, I'm pretty tired. I'm gonna run to bed.
Sweet Dreams!

Answers

Ok, for the two of you who asked questions, here are some answers, as promised. :D ;)

First, Nathan's questions:
Would you prefer to be a dog trainer or a Chinese trapeze artist?
I would prefer to be a Chinese trapeze artist. I'm definitely not a dog person, and it would be seriously cool to do all of those sweet tricks. :D

When (not if) Bill Gates takes over the world, how do you plan on helping me overthrow him and establish my own dictatorship?
Using my Secret Ninja Abilities (learned, of course, during my secret training to be a Chinese trapeze artist), I would totally dominate Bill Gates. Then I would help you set up your dictatorship. After that, I would use these same Ninja Abilities to overthrow your dictatorship and start my own.

How long have you played the guitar?
About a year. And I'm still no good at it.

Have you lived in Taylorsville your whole life? Would you ever leave?
No, I have not lived in Taylorsville my whole life. In fact, I was born in Logan. At one time, I also lived in West Valley. Yeah, I plan on leaving. I'm going to USU for college, and then who knows. Although I probably won't ever leave Utah.

If you could be in a movie, would would be your role and what would the movie be called?
I would be the Beautiful Heroine. ;) Lol. The movie would be called.... Stories of a Teenage Drama Queen. ;)

Rock, paper, or scissors?
The wise man built his house upon a rock.

Do you feel comfortable stealing Nick's ideas?
I think the true question is, do YOU feel comfortable stealing Nick's ideas?

Are you right or left handed?
Choose the Right. ;)

What is your fondest memory?
Oh, so many to choose from. I think one of them would be sitting in Thatcher's living room, playing Catch Phrase with the Posse, and laughing at all the mean things (Tramp) Thatcher called me.

Any current love interests?
Yes.

How do you feel about yes or no questions?
I love them. ;) I mean...they're annoying and I hate answering them. :-E

If I were to ask you a yes or no question, how would you respond?
With either A) Yes. Or B) No.

In the event of me asking a yes or no question, do you think you would be ready?
Probably Not.

Are you aware that that last question was a yes or no question?
It was?!

What would you do if I left a question unfinished?
I would... Answer it.

What is your
Dot. Dot. Dot.

Now on to Dr. Paleo's:
Do you fear death?
Well, no. In Dumbledore's words "Death is but the next great adventure."

Where do you think you will go when you die?
The LDS church believe in the 3 Kingdoms of Glory. Hopefully, I'll be in the Celestial.

What one person is your most greatest inspiration?
My Great-Grandmother. She is so strong. She was widowed when she was very young, raised 2 great children, 5 amazing grandchildren, and 9 of the greatest great-grandchildren (if I do say so myself.) She's an accomplished seamstress. She's always been very generous, very optimistic, and an amazing baker. I actually used to fake being sick so I could stay at her house and make cookies all day. :D

Do you have a job? If so, where?
Yes, I work for OC Tanner. (It's a jewelry company).

Do you like it?
Yes, I do! I get to work at my house, whenever I want to. And it pays well. :D

What do you believe about femininity?
I'm a combination of modern and old school beliefs. I believe that women can be very strong and independent. I admire those single mothers who work so hard to make things work, but I also believe that men were put on this earth for a reason, and that men play a very important role in the Plan of Salvation. Men are still the protectors of the family, and someday I hope that my husband will be the sole provider for our family while I stay home with the kids.

Masculinity?
See Above. ;)

About war?
If there's any way to avoid war, without giving up our safety, integrity, and Liberty, do it. Use war only as a last resort.

About science?
I think science is awesome. :D I think it's done a lot for our lives, and made my life a billion times better than it might have been. Go Science.

Do you believe in bigfoot?
Yeah, his real name is James and he's my cousin.

How DO you spell your real name?
My real name is Courtney. My middle name is Marie. And so you get Corky Marie.

Are you really a drama queen?
I would say yes. I can create drama out of everything. Most of the time, I prefer good drama. And if you were talking about drama as in plays and stuff....well, I'm not a performer, but I do love watching. :D

Why do you giggle so much? (Don't worry, it's actually kind of nice).
I giggle a lot because...I'm happy. I'm very optimistic. I think that most problems have good solutions, and most of all I believe that attitude determines everything. If you have a good attitude about things, they'll turn out well. If you choose to learn and laugh rather than take offense, you'll be much happier. Mostly I giggle a lot because I LOVE to. I love laughing. I love smiling. I love being happy. And just think of all the laugh lines I'll have later. :D Sweet.

Back to Nathan:
Do you prefer nerds or airheads? (both the candy and the guys)
I prefer airheads (for candy) and nerds (for guys).

What is your favorite method of popping bubbles?
Umm...with my....lips.
Come on, it's just bubblegum. ;)

If you could fight in any major war in the past, what war would it be?
The Revolutionary War. The British are coming! The British are coming!

What would you name a boat?
The Corky Marie

Would this boat sink?
It would not sink. Cuz it would be unsinkable. Just like the Titanic.

Follow-up: In which ocean would this sinking take place?
I told you, it wouldn't sink!

What is your favorite season?
Fall.

Does this season have a name?
Yep. Autumn.

What is this season's signature wrestling move?
The Falling Leaf.

Can I poo on your car?
NO.

Will you please say no to that last question?
Duh.

What are your plans for after high school?
I plan to go to USU, meet a Returned Missionary, marry said Missionary in the Temple, and have kids. :D

What kind of career do you want?
I would love to be a registered nurse.

Where do you see yourself five years from now?
I see myself in college, seriously dating, or even married.

Back to Dr. Paleo's:
What would you do if Nathan pooed on your car?
Be seriously grossed out.

If you were ever being harmed by a man, would you want someone to interfere?
Umm....well, I wouldn't want anyone else to get hurt. But...I would still like some help.

Would you try to stop a guy from interfering for the sake of another girl? (A bit of advice: don't.)
First of all...Thanks for the advice. I would want to help. I think the first thing I would do, would be to call 911. Then I would do whatever I could to help the girl.

Ok. Well, thanks to the two of you who actually asked questions. I hope I provided satisfactory answers. If not, talk to me and I'll try to answer your questions. A fun post is coming up sometime soon. I'm not sure when, but soon. ;)
Have a great night.
