3 Things I've Learned This Semester (so far...)

1. Being sore is not always a bad thing.
Can you be out of shape if you've never actually been in shape? That's going to be the question of the semester. Dynamic fitness is seriously kicking my butt, but it's totally, 100% awesome. A one hour work out every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday doesn't sound like much to some... But the last time I ran to run, I was in 9th grade. And I think I walked most of the mile. In fact, I know I walked most of the mile. So this class is definitely a challenge, and I know that I physically can't do some of the things that most of my class can do. But the point of this class is to better yourself. And that's what I'm trying to do. I want to improve and be in shape and be healthy and fit. And I might be sore for the next semester, at the very least. But it will be totally worth it. I'm excited.

2. Being social is so much more fun than staying home.
Being homesick sucks. And this semester, I've had a hard time with it. The whole being-home-for-three-weeks thing totally kicked my trash when it was time to come back to school. I had kind of secluded myself. And even last semester, I wasn't exactly social. I wasn't being me. In high school, I went to dances and games and enjoyed my friends. In college... I've missed my friends, my family, my home... my life. But recently, I realized something. It's ok to miss my family, my friends, my home... But I can make a new life here, doing a lot of the same things that I did in good old T-ville. I can go to games and dances and I can make new friends and enjoy myself... I just have to be willing to put forth the effort. This past week, I went to two basketball games, and an institute dance. And I've loved it!! It's been an awesome week. I've felt so much better about life, and even about myself. I love doing the fun, social things that I haven't really been doing. So it's definitely going to be a much better semester. I'm going to do fun things. It's gonna rock.

3. Fun can be found in the weirdest places.
I've said this a million times before: attitude is everything. If you expect something to suck, it will. But I have to admit... I wasn't so excited for some of my classes. I went in... well, not expecting to be entertained. But just because a class isn't one that you'd choose, that doesn't mean that it's not going to be awesome. I mean... Civilization Humanities: Ancient Language and Literature. Tell me that you think that sounds fun, and I'd laugh at you. But a large class, an insane professor, and things that I didn't know, all add up to something that's actually been enjoyable thus far. Life is good, and if I go in with an open mind and an open heart, things can work out for the best. Attitude is everything.

So far, these are the biggest things that I've learned. I know there will be more, and I'll probably learn new things very soon. I'm very excited for this semester. I'm excited to learn and grow and become a better person. Hopefully I can help others learn a thing or two, as well.
love ya!
